The three-classroom school has now been built and just needs the finishing touches put to the interior. It is hoped to start nursery and primary classes in September this year (2011) to provide education for children who will not otherwise be able to get to school. Some are unable because their parents simply cannot afford the fees (and we will sponsor these youngsters) and others because the nearest school is some miles away. Schooling is expensive because parents have to meet not only the cost of education but books, writing materials and the uniform.

Before it opens we need to build a toilet block costing £6,000. This has become a priority. Already four teachers have applied to work in the school and the state will provide their wages.

We will also provide one good meal a day and it is likely that the third classroom will act as a kitchen until a kitchen block can be built.

By the end of the school’s first year we hope to have started work on a new three-classroom building to enable children to progress their education to secondary school level. There is a nearby secondary school which we have contact with and which will take our youngsters when they are old enough.
